In the threshold between worlds, the journey is never simply a passage across lands but a movement of consciousness itself. The works gathered here trace the manifold routes of a life lived as a voyager of meaning, where distant horizons are not destinations but openings into unseen dimensions. Drawing on fieldwork in Sumba and Java, and on diverse terrains of ritual and symbol, this practice observes that the sacred is not confined to temples or texts, but emerges in acts of crossing — in the pause before stepping over a river, in the repetition of an ancestral gesture, in the suspended stillness of a horizon that both beckons and dissolves.
This proposition gains a particular tension within the context of the exhibition space itself: a former baroque Catholic church, now functioning as a gallery. Here, the sacred does not return as doctrine or belief, but as a residual architecture of attention. The works do not reactivate the temple as a site of worship; instead, they displace its authority, allowing ritual, myth and image to circulate beyond fixed theological frameworks. The sacred is thus neither negated nor restored, but redistributed — unfolding as a mode of perception rather than a prescribed space.
Within this framework, the universal and the particular do not oppose but coalesce. The layered vocabularies of global myth and indigenous ritual are not fragments to be reassembled, but active voices within an ongoing dialogue between body and space, instinct and reflection. The recurring image of the boat — at once cradle and coffin, ark and vessel — carries the double weight of beginning and ending, presence and transcendence. It invites the viewer not toward a stable meaning, but into a dynamic field of thresholds, where one world continuously gives way to another, and where the sacred persists as the texture of transition itself.
